Cerretti history: Doran Constructions in Newcastle
Cerretti history: Vincent F Doran and sons 1954
Based in the Hunter Region of NSW, Cerretti has generational links to Newcastle’s Doran Group. Both Managing Directors are the sons of the late Jack ‘Cerretti’ Doran of the Doran Group of companies.
The Dorans founded their business in 1927 in Wickham NSW. The company was focused on Major public institutional buildings in the 1930s and soon became leaders in this field.
The 1940s saw a revitalised connection with Doran-BHP with the construction of a large amenities building at BHP coal mines.
In the 1950s the company was meeting the increasing demand for Industrial Warehousing in Newcastle.
The 1960s and 70s in the era when the regional shopping complex emerged, was the start of a continued and long-standing relationship with retailers such as Woolworths and Coles. Activity centred around church and school building projects, large warehouses and heavy engineering works.
In the 1980s the group was quick to recognise the feasibility of office developments in Newcastle. Considerable energies and expertise were invested in the construction of such major office-building projects such as the Harbourpark building, Network House, Newcastle Permanent Building Society Head Office and stages one and two of the Harbourpark Centre complex. Doran companies were key instigators of Newcastle’s Harbour Foreshore development.
Into the 21st century from 2010, Cerretti has emerged as a property development firm that continues the family tradition of investing in and developing property projects for the local community.
